lien abduction, mutilated bodies, unearthly weapons, and spirit walking. These may sound like words out of context, but these are the building blocks for "PREY." Prey is the long awaited FPS from Human Head studios, a demo for which was released yesterday. The game has been the talk of the gaming community since its announcement at E3 last year. The game will be releasing in July, this is a demo preview of Prey.
Preys Answered
It's been around a year since Prey was announced, gathering hype every single day. We all heard about Prey's unique gameplay and stunning graphics, but there have been games that promise a lot and don't deliver. After playing the first level of the demo, I believed that the game is brilliant. The game looks brilliant, without hogging your system. The game's protagonist is Tommy, a Cherokee, who wants to leave his past behind. You start the game with Tommy trying to convince his girlfriend to leave the town with him, until a few aliens come to invade his party. The alien abduction scene is a visual treat, with some great effects and sounds. The game is fast paced and puts you in action very soon. From there onwards it's a crazy battle for survival, with hordes of enemies to kill and loads of puzzles to solve.
Prey is action packed, with some great fire power. The gun modeling is decent and they pack a punch. You will be tackling the enemy at regular intervals, so the game is constantly engaging. This game is not only about mindless killing, there is a twist. As most of you would know that this game allows for the player to walk on walls and go into spirit mode. Both these aspects add to the whole experience, providing you with gameplay that is fresh and innovative. These are not just the tricks in the game; you need to use both these aspects to solve many of the puzzles. The spirit mode allows you to go through portals and shielded gates. In the spirit mode your body is left vulnerable to enemy attacks, so you have to protect yourself also. In spirit mode you are equipped with a spirit bow, which is a very powerful weapon. You have to use the bow to trigger a few buttons and activate gates.
MultiPrey
The demo has a multiplayer option, but this is no ordinary multiplayer. This is multiplayer mayhem, no matter what you do, don't miss this. The deathmatch is addictive; it offers loads of guns and hours of gameplay. It's a different experience with the players running up and down the walls. This is no quake 3, but definitely a multiplayer experience worth checking out.
The final verdict on the demo is that this is worth every bit of bandwidth. The game looks great, has excellent sound. It's a 450 MB demo, which offers both single player and multiplayer. The demo will give you a good idea about the full version, as this looks to be a promising game.
